About this painting
I love portraying animals we tend to take for granted. The overlooked, the underdogs. Pigeons fall squarely into that category. But along with being one of the most common avian species, they are also of the most athletic, smart, and social birds. The more I learn about them (i.e., they can see magnetic fields and pass and can pass the mirror self-recognition test) the more impressed I am. This piece speaks to their ability not just to survive, but to truly thrive alongside us.
