Meet Charlie
This April we welcome Charlie, a Beagle mix, to the dog portrait gallery. Although I tend to favor understated, color-filled backgrounds, I could not resist
capturing the environment that surrounded Charlie the moment this photo was taken. There was such a beautiful ambient light on the chairs and on Charlie. As you may imagine, it was a
treat to look at that mug of his for a few months. What a face.
Charlie's portrait was a presented as a birthday gift to Philip, Charlie's owner,
at a surprise party thrown by friends and family. A few words from Philip...
"For my 40th birthday, my wonderful friend Jon Levine presented to me the portrait he commissioned of Charlie, a beagle/bassett mix.
I can't tell you how much you captured Charlie in this beautiful painting! It's not a painting of a beagle/bassett, it's a painting of our Charlie.
My partner Christoph and I adopted Charlie from a shelter here in Boston and he immediately became such an integral, cherished part of our family.
In the portrait, you have captured a moment that I have such warm and happy memories of. One of our favorite places to vacation is Provincetown on Cape Cod.
Last autumn, we were on the deck of the Red Inn in P-town having a late afternoon cocktail and Christoph, Charlie & I were sitting in the adirondack chairs.
