The new look: Pet Portraits by Aimée website, v.2010
And I do mean finally.
Out with the old
As I began to writing this post, I didn’t actually know how long it’d been since I re-designed my online gallery. So I looked it up…EIGHT YEARS. That’s three or four computers (and as many cell phones) ago! Needless to say, it’s been long overdue. I sincerely thank all of you who continued to visited my tiny, decrepit, un-searchable website over the years. And then had to high-tail it over to my blog to see what was actually new.
A group effort
While I designed the site myself, I worked with the talented WordPress and Thesis guru (and nice guy), Bill Erickson, to build it. I also took advantage of my husband S’s technical expertise to put it all together. (The advantages of being married to self-proclaimed geek–or is it nerd?–are delightfully endless.) We took great care to build a site that looked as clean and organized as an actual gallery, while incorporating lots improvements that I hope you’ll enjoy, such as:
- A larger overall design that gives the content room to breathe
- The ability to search the entire site for blog posts, specific portraits, etc.
- An incorporated blog (no longer a separate website)
- A slide show for all the galleries
- A new “client photos” gallery
- Larger photos of each portrait
- Links to my Twitter and Facebook fan pages
I really hope you like “version 1.0″ of the new design. I welcome your comments as I improve it in the upcoming months, so feel free to pipe up and me know what you think.
